Railway Board Levels relaxes the educational criteria for post -1 posts

The Railway Board has relaxed the minimum educational qualification criteria for recruitment of level -1 (previous group D) posts. According to the new criteria, the ITI Diploma or equivalent or National Training Certificate (NAC) approved by the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) will be eligible to apply for the post -10 pass candidate or holder level -1 posts.

In the past, for technical departments, the applicant had to pass the examination of Class -II and have NAC or ITI diploma.

In the written communication of the board with all the railway zones held on January 2, the matter was reviewed and the decision was taken to underline the previous instructions.

“There will be a Class X or ITI or National Training Certificate (NCV) approved by NCVT for minimum educational qualification (with the upcoming CEN for Level -1 recruitment) for all open market recruitment in Level -4 posts.”

Level -1 post in the Indian Railways includes various departments, points and track maintenance assistants.


The Railway Recruitment Board recently announced a notification to recruit almost 000.5 candidates in Level -4 posts, for which the application process will be held from January 1 to February 7.
